1933 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Awarded 2026 Greenwich Concours d’Elegance Best of Show

An Alfa Romeo 8C won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1931 and 1932, the latter with French driver Raymond Sommer and the Italian rookie, Luigi Chinetti, at the helm. The next year, however, industry-wide struggles forced Alfa to cede control of its business to the Italian government and, so as not to distract engineers and staff, Scuderia Ferrari took over the brand’s racing program. Seeking to repeat its victory and build the first dynasty following a period of dominance by Bentley, the team returned to Le Mans in 1933 with another 8C 2300.
